Anurag Basu, who was set to make a biopic on mathematician Anand Kumar, admits that the project is facing some hurdles. He adds that reports which claim the film is shelved are not true.
The film-maker has had talks with Kumar, but is yet to receive consent to begin work on the film. Reportedly, the Patna-based mathematician had claimed a couple of months ago that despite interest from several parties, he was considering working with Basu. The two had a number of meetings, but after a point, Basu started ignoring Kumar.

When contacted, the film-maker says that he’s unable to start the film as he hasn’t got legal permission from Kumar yet. "Until we get that in order, we can’t make the film. He is talking to us, and we’ve discussed how we will go about it, but he hasn’t given us the written permission," Anurag Basu explains.
The film-maker was planning to start shooting this film after wrapping up his detective film with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
Now, he is just waiting for things to fall in place. "The principal shooting of my film will be over by November. I can start after that, but I don’t know as of now," he says.
