Finding Fanny is an absurdly entertaining story that throws together a bunch of oddballs on an unlikely mission. In reality, it’s just a last-ditch effort by each of them to grab at that mythical second chance. And to do this, I handpicked a mixed bag of nuts.
Naseeruddin Shah plays Ferdie, the old postmaster of a Goan village, where no one sends or receives letters. Invisible in a crowd of one, he once summoned the courage to propose to the love of his life — 46 years too late. Watch Trailer
Deepika Padukone’s character is Angie, an unlikely combination of widow and virgin. She happily stays put in her comatose village. And in a bid to distract her aching heart, Angie embraces every mindless detail.
Arjun Kapoor plays Savio D’Gama, 27 going on 12, who prides himself on being different from the others and runs away to Mumbai to make it big, or so he thinks.
Dimple Kapadia, as Rosie Eucharistica, is the self-appointed pitbull that guards the moral fabric of the village. One might say she goes through life oblivious of anything beyond her immediate largeness.
Pankaj Kapur plays Don Pedro Cleto Colaco, a frustrated artist who knows that he is a has-been who never-was. His muses were once large women, so he considers Rosie’s fatrolls an inspiration.
So, the question is, if life gives you a second chance, will you do it better the next time around?
