Happy about sharing screen space with the ultimate Bollywood diva, Madhuri Dixit, actor Huma Qureshi reveals that she had jumped with excitement, when she heard the news first.
“I’m really excited about it. My first reaction was to scream in joy. Every girl brought up in the 90s would
idolise Madhuri and would want to work with her. I’m just happy that I’ve been able to achieve that,” says Huma about her character in Dedh Ishqiya.
The Delhi-born actor rose to fame with her trendsetting role of a small-town airhead in the acclaimed Anurag Kashyap film, Gangs of Wasseypur. She was seen romancing actor Nawazuddin Siddique in the film. Would she do a similar role again? “I’m bored of that image. Why do you want me to repeat myself!,” Huma replies instantly as she shifts topic to her upcoming film, X.
“This project remains close to my heart. It’s a short film, an interesting take on relationships where the camera is constantly moving. It doesn’t exactly fall in the commercial, masala genre,” says the actor.
Ask her why her last release, Ek Thi Dayaan, did not click with the audience, and Huma says, “As an artist, I am very proud of Ek Thi Daayan. It was a supernatural flick and a huge risk since not many films are made like that.”
