For some time now, reports have suggested that newcomer Meera Chopra has not received a warm welcome from her actor-cousins, Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra. But when we asked her about her equation with them, she quashed the rumours. In this interview, Meera talks about the relationship she shares with her, why she’s scared of making her Hindi film debut, and why she’s looking forward to working with her cousins.

After reports claimed that your cousins weren’t helping you out in the industry, Priyanka tweeted about the promo of your debut film. What changed suddenly?
It was sweet of her. Priyanka and I have always been in touch. There is no problem between us. I respect her and see her as a superstar. I don’t treat her as a sister who I take for granted.
A lot has been written about Priyanka and Parineeti avoiding you. Do you think that has had a negative impact on your image?
I don’t think so. Whoever I met in the industry welcomed me with open arms. In fact, the industry welcomed me warmly because of Priyanka. Being her sister has only helped. I am not close to Parineeti, but I am very happy with the kind of success she got so early in her life.
Are you excited about your Bollywood debut?
I am extremely scared. I want Gang Of Ghosts to be a hit. I am already having pre-release jitters, because you never know what works and what doesn’t.
Do you think making a debut in a lead role might have been a better choice for you?
I had done so many movies down south, so I just wanted a good script to enter Bollywood. If I had selected a wrong script opposite a big hero, it wouldn’t have worked.
Which actors are you looking forward to working with in Bollywood?
I definitely want to work with Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Salman is my number one choice. I just love him. Working with him will be a dream come true for me.
