Last year, he co-produced the critically acclaimed film, The Lunchbox. And in his second stint as producer, Irrfan Khan will back a Nishikant Kamat-directed film about the triumph of the common man.

And the film, according to Irrfan, has a subject that people will be able to relate to rather easily.

"I have already wrapped up 80-85 per cent of the shooting for Nishi’s film. Once I am back from the US in May, I will complete the film," Irrfan had told HT Café before leaving to shoot for the fourth instalment of the Jurassic Park series.

When contacted, Kamat says, "I would call it a thriller revolving around a vigilante. Irrfan came to me with the script. I thought it was superb and had an unusual format."

Kamat has earlier worked with Irrfan in the 2008 film, Mumbai Meri Jaan. Has he noticed any change in the actor?

"I think he has only become better. He has always been one of the best actors in our country."

And how true are the rumours that the film is inspired by former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s movement for the common man?

"Not at all, it’s not true," says the director, who will be working with John Abraham on an action film once this project is wrapped up. "I start shooting for it in May.

Shruti Haasan will be seen in it, but the rest of the cast is still being finalised," adds Kamat.
