This has been a great year at the box office for Sajid Nadiadwala. After the success of his productions Highway, 2 States and Heropanti, he has hit the bullseye with his directorial debut, Kick.

We’re told that Sajid is overwhelmed by the response to the Salman Khan-starrer. The movie was touted as an Eid release, but it crossed the `100-crore mark even before the day of the festival (Tuesday, July 29).

A source says, "Despite the fact that Kick released on July 25, which was a working Friday and during Ramzan, the box-office collections have been incredible. Moreover, the western part of India saw heavy rainfall during this time. But the buzz around the film was so strong that audiences got out of their houses to watch the film."

According to trade analyst Atul Mohan, the film raked in Rs. 28.89 cr on Tuesday, taking the five-day total to Rs. 127.03 cr. "Now, with Ramzan having ended, single screens and multiplexes will see a lot more people coming out to watch the film," he says.

Meanwhile, Sajid is over the moon. "It’s been a very special, euphoric Eid. NGE (Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment) started the year with a bang, and Kick has added to it. Celebrations at Salman’s and my residences have not stopped," he says. The film-maker is now investing in a range of projects such as Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Tamasha, as well as Phantom, which stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif.
