Director Zoya Akhtar’s untitled next film, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, is already creating buzz around town. There is a lot of speculation about the cast of the film. Initially, the movie was said to star cousins Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, who would play on-screen
siblings. However, now those roles will be essayed by Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra. Anushka Sharma will play Ranveer’s love interest.
Meanwhile, it seems Anil Kapoor has been approached for a pivotal role — rumour has it that this is Ranveer and Priyanka’s father’s part. And now, we’ve been informed that the makers are deliberating over who will play the mother, which is an important part too.
A source close to the production house reveals, “Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi and Dimple Kapadia have been approached and they all seem to have liked the script. Sridevi played the role of a mother in English Vinglish (2012), while Madhuri has never played mom on screen. Dimple has essayed a similar part in Cocktail (2012). However, nothing has been finalised on that front as of now. Whoever plays the mother will have a powerful role in the film as the story essentially revolves around her children and her.”
Zoya confirms the news, saying, “Yes, but once the casting is confirmed I will let everyone know.”
Meanwhile, even the role of the male lead opposite Priyanka is yet to be finalised and insiders say that the part might be played by either Farhan or Hrithik Roshan. The film will go on the floors by April 2014 and will be shot entirely on board a cruise liner.
