Jab Jab Phool Khile: A 1965 film, the film is a classic poor boy-meets rich girl tale. A boatman in Kashmir (played by Shashi Kapoor) falls in love with a rich tourist (Nanda) and then faces parental opposition. The film was a blockbuster hit at the box office. The film is known for its songs – the playful Na na karte pyar and the sensuous on Yeh sama.
Teen Deviyaan: This 1965 film, another huge hit, was about a man in love with three women. Dev Anand played the lead and Simi, Nanda and Kalpana his three love interests. After a lot of confusion about these teen Deviyaan, Dev realizes he cannot marry three women and choses Nanda's character as his life partner.
Gumnaam: A thriller directed by Raja Nawathe, the film starred Manoj Kumar, Nanda, Pran, Helen and Mehmood. Known for her sisterly roles, Nanda was seen in a new avatar in the song Peeke Hum Tum Jo with the H Bomb, Helen, herself.
Even though Nanda was not the main protagonist in this film, her performance in a character role was highly memorable. A mother (Nanda) dies saving her child who loses his ability to speak due to the accident. The emotions portrayed through the movie and particularly the songs even today can make one's eyes wet. The haunting Ek pyar ka nagma hai will stay with you. Ittefaq:
Changing personalities, mysterious vibes, quite melodrama and assiduous theatricality, that was Nanda in Ittefaq. This 1969 film is about a man (Rajesh Khanna) who's accused of murdering his wife and is sent to a mental asylum. He manages to escape and takes shelter in Nanda's house. Things turn even more sinister when another body is discovered in the house.?
