She may be all of 25 and just three films old, but actor Parineeti Chopra has her priorities clear. She’d love to work with the three top Khans alright, but only if the role is substantial.
“I would love to work with Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh but not in a film where I don’t have anything to do. My role in the film has to be important enough. I can’t be just a showpiece in a film I do,” says Parineeti.
She also puts to rest rumours that it was her cousin, actor Priyanka Chopra, who inspired her to join films. “I think destiny is responsible for making me an actor. I had planned a very different life for me. But destiny had something else in store. As far as Priyanka is concerned, no, it wasn’t she who inspired me to become an actor. If that would have been the case, I would have become an actor 10 years ago. Believe it or not, I used to look down upon acting till the time I actually got to doing it myself.”
Apart from preparing for her next role — that of a mad scientist — in her upcoming film Hasee Toh Phasee, there are also other things on her mind. The recent Supreme Court ruling against gay rights, for instance. “If we continue to have such judgments, we will never shed the tag of being called a developing nation,” she says.
