Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya’s next starring Salman Khan has been in the news for some time. Now, months after the movie was actually announced, the director has finally confirmed the title of his upcoming release.
And contrary to popular belief, it is not Bade Bhaiyya. The film is going to be called Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The title has been derived from the popular bhajan, ‘Ram ratan dhan payo’.
Salman Khan unveils the History TV18's 3 Big Initiatives at a press conference in Mumbai on February 24.
An insider claims that the film is slated to go on the floors in June this year and is set to release during Diwali, 2015. “Salman will finish his ongoing film and then dedicate close to 180 days to this project,” adds the source.
The film will bring Sonam Kapoor and Salman together on screen after the former’s debut film, Saawariya (2007). It also features Anupam Kher, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Deepak Dobriyal and Swara Bhaskar. The music of the film will be composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
Confirming the news, the film’s spokesperson says, “We have locked the final title — Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.”
The insider also revealed that Bade Bhaiyya was never actually registered as the name of the film, nor was it the working title. The makers didn’t come forth to clarify the matter when the news was first circulated as they were still finalising the name.
