The box office collections of Prakash Jha's political thriller Satyagraha is on the rise. The film has grossed Rs. 39.12 crore over the weekend.
The Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai, Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Rao-starrer made Rs. 11.21 crore on its opening day. This is Jha’s biggest opener so far.
The collections rose to Rs. 13.08 crore on Saturday, thanks to positive word of mouth. The earnings further soared to Rs. 14.83 crore on Sunday.
The multi-starrer is also doing decent business overseas. The film has collected A$ 62,378 in Australia, £ 41,932 in UK on Saturday. Pakistan collections for the movie were $ 35,000 on Friday.
Interestingly, Satyagraha is doing wonderful business at Patna ticket windows. The film is running houseful at Regent, one of the most popular cinema hall in the capital city of Bihar. Manoj Bajpai re-tweeted Satyagraha's post that Regent arranged an early morning show for Satyagraha at 7:30am on Saturday to control the rush and even that show ran housefull.
Satyagraha opened in approximately 2400-2500 screens across India.
