Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express fastest to make Rs. 200 crore

SRK-Deepika starrer Chennai Express is speeding ahead with all its vigour. After making fastest Rs. 100 cr at the box office, the film has now smashed into Rs. 200 cr club, and yes it's the fastest entrant so far.

While John Abraham's Madras Cafe is set to release on Friday, the 'Hit' Express is not in a mood to stop its success run at the BO.

The film collected Rs. 200 crore in 2 weeks. "#ChennaiExpress 2 weeks grand total stands at Rs. 200.55 cr nett. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER," tweeted Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh.

Collections so far
"Collected Rs. 43.85 cr nett in Week 2. Breakup: Fri 6.50 cr, Sat 8.51 cr, Sun 10.22 cr, Mon 3.80 cr, Tue 7.06 cr, Wed 4.51 cr, Thu 3.25 cr. Grand total: Rs. 200.55 cr nett," Adarsh shares the break-up.

The second week collection of the movie was not as high as the first week though. "While the first weekend of the film’s release witnessed a staggering Rs. 100.42 crores in collections, the second weekend collections dropped to a quarter of the sum to Rs. 25.23 crores," according to Bollywood Hungama.




Overseas reception

"In US-Canada, Chennai Express stands behind Aamir's 3 Idiots which continues to hold the highest Opening Week record at $ 3,626,536," according to Bollywood Hungama.

"In the UK, surprisingly, its SRK starrer My Name Is Khan which continues to hold the highest BO record at £1,511,602. In Australia, again it's My Name Is Khan leading the pack with the collection of A$ 588,738 followed by 3 Idiots which collected A$ 556,000. And finally, coming to New Zealand, it is Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger that rules the top position with NZ$ 176,143 w.r.t. the comparison between movies mentioned in this chart. However, it is Akshay starrer Housefull 2 which has the highest BO record in NZ with a collection of NZ$ 258, 598," added Hungama.
