While YRF's gang of ladies and brawny Ricky Bahl couldn't do anything for the box-office, Vidya Balan's The Dirty Picture sizzled the trade scene and how. The Ranveer-Anushka starrer has opened on an average note (IANS) and The Dirty Picture has earned Rs. 63 crore in 10 days (Koimoi.com).

"Yash Raj Films’ Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl made Rs. 16.75 crore (all-India net collections) over its first weekend at the box-office," writes Komal Nahta in his blog Koimoi.com.

"The Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh starrer earned Rs. 4.75 crore at the ticket windows on its opening day (December 9). On Saturday, the film added Rs. 5.5 crore to its kitty. The Sunday collections were only marginally higher at Rs. 6.5 crore. Initial reports on Monday suggest that the collections of the film have dropped.," adds Nahta.

Concurs trade expert Taran Adarsh. "Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl has started on an average to below average note. The opening can be best described as ordinary, except for a few screens of North, where the film opened on a slightly better note. What comes as a surprise is the fact that the film was expected to fetch at least 60% + start, in view of the fact that the successful team of Band Baaja Baaraat had teamed up again. But the opening of Ladies vs Ricky Bahl ranged from 20% to 35%, on an average."

The picture is entirely different with the Vidya Balan starrer. "The Dirty Picture has done very well at the box-office. The film, which had collected Rs. 52.5 crore in its first week (December 2 – December 8), added another Rs. 10.6 crore over its second weekend at the box-office," says Nahta.

"This takes the film’s 10-day total collection to Rs. 63.1 crore (all-India net)," he adds.

Not only this The Dirty Picture has also beaten Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl globally.

"Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl also disappointed in the international markets. The total from the five markets [U.K., U.S.A., Australia, New Zealand and Fiji] is a paltry Rs. 2.15 cr on 133 screens … The Dirty Picture is a decent success in the international markets," says Adarsh.
