Delhi-based actress Sakshi Gulati is still waiting for a big break in Bollywood. Though she played the lead role in filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s Contract and cameos in London Dreams and Delhi Heights, success has so far eluded the actress.
She defends, “Working with big names doesn’t give you guarantee to establish yourself, the film needs to work at the box office.” Gulati also admits that a godfather is essential in the industry. “A godfather is essential for the initial push; rest is a mixture of talent, looks and the ability to not compromise.”
Ask her to elaborate on whether by ‘compromise’, she means the casting couch too, and she says, “Casting couch sounds boring... the best way to avoid it is to conduct yourself professionally — then no one will mess with you.”
Sakshi’s next release will be Vinay Pathak-Ranvir Shorey starrer Happy Journey. And the actress is not afraid of being sidelined. “I don’t have any fear of getting overshadowed... most of my portion is not with these actors anyway. My story revolves around a guy called Mohit.”
