Co-owners of the Celebrity Cricket League’s (CCL) Bollywood team, Mumbai Heroes, have decided to retain actor Kangna Ranaut as the face of their group this year too. “She wasn’t around in the first season; as a result we didn’t win any matches. But she was with us in the second season and we won a few. I hope she continues to remain our lucky charm,” says Vikas Kapoor, a film producer, who owns the team along with actor Sohail Khan. He adds, “She discusses the game regularly and encourages the players, inducing a positive vibe. That’s the kind of people we want.”
However, this year Kangna might not be the only star representing Mumbai Heroes. The co-owners are planning to rope in two more Bollywood leading ladies as brand ambassadors because some of them have expressed their interest to be associated with the team. “We will be announcing a couple of more names in the coming future. We may have two more ladies as there are some who want to come on board,” says Vikas.
Meanwhile, Sohail, who was reportedly not playing this season, seems to have changed his mind. “He is back in the team and has started practicing for the league,” reveals a source.
There has also been a reshuffle in the team (Mumbai Heroes) this year as actor Riteish Deshmukh, who was the vice-captain last year, has now formed his own team, Veer Marathi. His team includes Bobby Deol, Aftab Shivdasani and Sonu Sood among others.
Instead of six teams, the third season of the CCL will see eight teams competing for the trophy. Apart from Mumbai Heroes and Veer Marathi, the others are Chennai Rhinos, Kerala Strikers, Telugu Warriors, Bhojpuri Dabanggs, Karnataka Bulldozers and Bengal Tigers.
