You saw them waving to fans at IPL matches. You also saw some of them looking pretty in South Africa at the Soccer World Cup matches. But, for the Commonwealth Games that kick-start tomorrow, Bollywood celebrities will be a no-show.

Actor Lara Dutta, who went to South Africa for FIFA 2010, will give the Games a miss as she’s flying off to Berlin for a shoot. Actor Shilpa Shetty, the co-owner of IPL team Rajasthan Royals, too, says, "I will not be coming for the Games." Ditto for actor Kangna Ranaut, who will be in London during the Games.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan, will also give the Games a miss. "Will not be able to come — busy schedule and travelling," he says. Katrina Kaif will be absent, and actor Salman Khan has no plans at the moment, either.

Amitabh BachchanSame goes for actor Abhishek Bachchan, who went for the FIFA World Cup. He’s currently in Europe and is headed to Korea. "I plan to enjoy CWG on my home screen rather than in the hassle of a crowded stadium," says actor Aashish Chowdhary. "Owing to the negative publicity around the Games, I don’t plan to come down and watch them," says actor Praveen Dabas, who also attended the IPL.

Even Delhi’s socialites are giving the Games a cold shoulder. "I’ll be in Mumbai for the Couture Week during that time," says designer Rina Dhaka. "I have been to Mumbai for IPL matches, but I have no plans for the CWG," says model Indrani Dasgupta.

"We have planned a holiday around that time," says entrepreneur Kamayani Kanwar.

They’ll be here
Actor Rahul Bose will attend the athletics and rugby matches, while restaurateur AD Singh will also catch the Games with his friends. Designer Ritu Beri, too, will attend the opening ceremony.
