When it comes to attracting Bollywood biggies, the Mumbai Marathon is in no way inferior to the Indian Premier League, a fact evident during the event's seventh edition on Sunday.
Prominent names from the glam world who attended and participated in the event included the event brand ambassador John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Genelia D'souza, Rahul Bose, Reitesh Deshmukh, Gul Panag and Mahima Chaudhary. Model-turned actor Milind Soman in-fact completed the 42.1 km run. Actors Purab Kohli, Tara Sharma and Sophie too made their presence felt.
The corporate world was represented by Anand Mahindra, while chairman of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, Anil Ambani, a regular participant in the event, was conspicuous by his absence.
Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar's daughter Sara too ran in the dream run, as did noted cricket commentator Harsha Bhogale in the city's biggest annual sporting event.
As many as 38,450 people ran in the event with the most favourite category being the six km-long Dream Run in which 22,000 people espousing various causes took part.
