Making a mark as a singer and a reality show star isn’t enough for Mika Singh. The crooner will make his debut as an actor with the Punjabi film Mitti — a flick, he claims, that will move the country’s youth as it sends out a strong social message. That is also the reason why he took it up in the first place, he says.
“I had been getting offers from different production houses to act as a villain in their films, but I never accepted them. However, when I got an offer to act in this movie, I just couldn’t refuse. Apart from my contribution as an actor, I have also sung for the film,” he says.
And although he won’t mind acting in more movies, Mika says, “Singing will always be a priority for me. In 2010, I also have Loot, which is my second film as an actor.”
Talks are also on for a film on Mika’s life, which Quick Gun Murugan director Shashank Ghosh plans to make. “The movie will show my journey before I became a successful singer. I’ll give the music for the film, but if they don’t find anyone suitable, then I may act in it as well,” he says.
