Hollywood beauty Charlize Theron auctioned off a date with herself to raise money for charity, and the prize went for a whopping $ 20,000. The Oscar-winning actor hosted a dinner and charity auction benefitting the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project in New York. When guests began to bid on a pair of court-side tickets to watch the Los Angeles Lakers Basketball team, the 35-year-old offered to attend the game herself with the winner.
The bets got bigger and bigger, ending up at $ 20,000, reported
. During the event, Theron spent time with her friend Liv Tyler, who came out to show her support.
The actor, who was dressed in a Versace dress and Stella McCartney jacket for the event, was joined by other A-listers including models Irina Shayk and Petra Nemcova,
actor Jon Hamm and
star Johnny Knoxville.
The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, launched in 2007, strives to create better lives for children and communities in South Africa. The charity has a special focus on those who are affected by HIV and AIDS. Theron took much of the last year off from work to focus on the project.
