Former Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole, 28, who is looking to reboot her music career, has decided to drop the surname she adopted after her marriage to footballer Ashley Cole. The singer, who divorced Ashley in May 2010 amid allegations he had been unfaithful, will be known as Cheryl on all future material, reported Sun online.
This is the biggest confirmation yet that her relationship with Ashley is officially dead, said a source, adding: “Cheryl is beginning a new chapter in her life so she doesn’t want to be associated with negative stuff from the past. She is not removing Cole legally, it is just a career statement. Her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice.”
