The capital wants to dedicate songs, and more, to Amy Winehouse, the British soul-jazz star who died in London on Saturday at the age of 27.

Winehouse, whose death remains "unexplained", was struggling with drug addiction and joins a host of other music icons — Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin and Brian Jones — who passed away at the same age.

"We’ll be dedicating the evening of Saturday (July 30) to Amy by playing her songs," says Amit Bhatnagar of F Bar & Lounge at The Ashok.

"We are in a state of shock, and are planning to pay tribute to the singer... it’s sad she passed away at such a young age," says Aditi Singh Sharma, lead singer of Delhi-based band Groove Adda.

Amy WinehouseCity jazz group Cobbled Street will also host a special gig in remembrance of Winehouse this week. It’s not just clubs and musicians — even fashion designers at the ongoing couture week are mourning.

"It’s unfortunate and shocking. Such a promising life cut short. We will be remembering Amy Winehouse as we showcase our collection," says designer Nikhil Mehra of Shantanu-Nikhil, who’re participating at the event. Teenagers, too, are paying respects. "My friends and I were big fans of Amy’s singing and her beehive hairdo, so we’re having our own tribute evening," says Nishi Raj, 19.
