Politics apart, where ever Rahul Gandhi goes the girls are sure to follow. At the Gandhi scion’s recent visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, he faced opposition from the Left-leaning students, but here too, a section of his female fan following went all agog for a glance. Seen, for a change, in a short-sleeved cream shirt and black casual trousers — Rahul was a far cry from the regular attire of a typical Indian neta.
Neha Virmani, a student of MA History in JNU said, “His answers were evasive and we were not at all happy. However, he has a following and some girls just kept acting like these besotted teenagers trying to attract his attention.”
Akhila Mathew, another student pursuing Masters in History, who was present there said, “Most of the people present were there was just to see how Rahul Gandhi looks in real life. Girls were going gaga over him and it was quite embarrassing, they were blowing kissses and fluttering eyelashes at him.”
But not all were charmed by Rahul. A student, who visited JNU two days after the incident, said debate was still on about Rahul’s visit to the campus, with some students even changing their Facebook messages in protest.
“The university is Leftist, so obviously there was a clash of ideology,” he explained on condition of anonymity. However, Rahul’s female following is only growing. On his recent visit to St Stephens College in North Campus, Rahul was surrounded by female followers who jostled with each other for a chance to be photographed with him.
