Dusky beauty Bipasha Basu has gone topless for the latest issue of men’s magazine Maxim. After being in the film industry for over a decade, this is the first time that Basu has bared it all for a magazine.
"I did it because it was for a sexy magazine. I also shot this with my favourite photographer, so it was very comfortable for me. Also, I am very comfortable in my skin and with my body and therefore it wasn’t a problem doing this shoot," says Basu, who feels she isn’t a shy person and that she wouldn’t do the shoot for just about anyone. "There is no nudity in the shot or anything, it’s just the shot of a beautiful bare back and I think it’s really sexy."
So what has been the most daring act that Basu has ever done other than going topless? "If by daring you mean wild, then I haven’t really done anything. I’m a mad person, but not wild. I was a little wild when younger, but now I’ve become really calm. But yeah, if you want to know the craziest thing I’ve done, then I can recount a lot of episodes. I’m a die-hard romantic by nature, so when I was younger and staying in Paris, I had to urgently call my then boyfriend in the dead of night and I had no balance in my mobile phone. So without thinking even once, I stepped out in the freezing cold and ran to the telephone booth in a T-shirt and shorts. It was only when I kept the phone down that I realised that I had a lot of eyes staring at me. But at that time when I was running on the road, I didn’t realise anything because I really wanted to talk to him. I think this is one of the most romantic moments of my life," she recollects.
What does Basu have to say about having one of the hottest and sexiest faces and bodies in the industry? "I really don’t think so. I just believe that I’m really comfortable with my job and that shows in my persona. I strictly believe in the philosophy of ‘loving oneself’ and everything that I do, follows this rule. Not to say that I’m being modest, I really love everything about myself and I think that is what comes across to everybody. For me, it’s about a personality trait and is not just restricted to the way one looks; it’s how you carry yourself," she says.
Basu turned 32 on January 7. “My birthday is always a week-long affair. I don’t drink generally, but on my birthdays I get completely sloshed. I don’t eat sweets either, but on my birthday I had many and some 50 different cakes that my loved ones gave me. I even started my day by having biryani for breakfast. So, no rules apply on birthdays for me! I’m planning to go to Goa as well. I’m very spontaneous by nature so let’s see if that happens,” she says.
