Actor-anchor Mandira Bedi has revealed that she kept on delaying plans of having a baby with husband, filmmaker Raj Kaushal, because she had signed for projects that had contracts disallowing pregnancy. “No one really pressured us to have a baby, neither his (Raj Kaushal’s) family nor mine. I have worked for a major part of my married life. There were some contracts, which did not allow me to get pregnant,” says the actor, who gave birth to a baby boy in 2011 after 12 years of marriage.
The baby was born on Father’s Day last year, a coincidence that Mandira feels quite lucky about. “We are lucky to be blessed with a baby on Father’s Day. I can say that it’s the perfect gift which I gave to Raj in the form of Vir (baby),” she says.
At the moment, the baby is Mandira’s top priority. “I’m now happily enjoying this new innings. It’s a beautiful phase. Motherhood is something that everyone should experience and I didn’t want to be left behind,” she adds.
As for her future plans, Mandira says that people in the film industry don’t know what role to give her. “They offer me item numbers, Bhabhi roles and all that. When they offer me the role of the main lead, that particular film ends up not being made. I don’t know what they want,” she says.
