This Vishal Dadlani tweet started proverbial fire: Startled awake by an INSANE procession with firecrackers at Pali Hill, at 6 am! Whoever's doing that, I hope you all die of gonorrhea!
This tweet rubbed many the wrong way. What followed was a series of tweets by the one-half of the composer duo Vishal-Shekhar who fronts the band Pentagram. Here're the tweets in chronological order:
@V1SH4L: It's a pity that some people are saying my earlier comments were directed against a particular community. They weren't. Read ALL the tweets.
@V1SH4L: No religion says "Be an ass****, get drums and crackers, make lotsa noise, disrupt traffic, cause pollution." Celebrate, don't irritate.
@V1SH4L: Keep religion in the home or temple/mosque/church/gurudwara ONLY!! Be INDIAN in public! Public displays of religion must be BANNED!
@V1SH4L: And where the f*** are the police? Concerts shut down at 10pm, but this "festive" noise goes on all night!?
@V1SH4L: Every single festival has become an occasion for one community to harass and inconvenience all the others! This is just stupid and inhuman!
A fan tweetd: @V1SH4L dn't let success go 2 ur head ur such demented behavior did not go down well wid a lot of ppl May guru nanakji forgive u and bless u.
He replied with another tweet: @rameetsachdeva Guru Nanak Sahib would never have approved of this procession. He was a simple, quiet man. Try to understand his teachings.
Another tweet read: @V1SH4L u won't say a word on hindu fests coz therz a certain bal thackrey who l fuck u in sch a way dat u wnt dare to cal sm1 ass**** again.
Vishal promptly replied: @iamdocsim Said the same on Diwali, dude! It's not about religion. It's about human behaviour!
And the argument continues!
