In the absence of any CCTV footage, the Colaba police have recorded the statement of the manager and waiters who were present inside the restaurant Wasabi when the fight between actor Saif Ali Khan and Iqbal Meer Sharma, a South African businessman (of Indian origin), broke out.

Vinod Sawant, senior inspector, Colaba police station, said they even recorded the statement of Sharma’s wife, father-in-law and mother-in-law on Thursday.

When questioned what action the police was taking against the counter-complaint filed by the actor against Sharma and his family, Sawant said, “He [Saif] made the complaint only after he was arrested. We are checking the veracity of his claims that Sharma had instigated the fight.”

Sawant, however, said that they would not be recording the statement of Saif’s friends, including girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, who accompanied him to the restaurant on Tuesday night.
