"With Simon's hectic schedule there are only so many weeks in the year they can get married," said a source.

"They felt the spring was too early to get things organised and Simon would be spending most of his time in America. So they pencilled in the weekend of September 11/12," added the source.

However, there won't be much of a honeymoon thanks to Cowell's busy workload.

"It will be just before the live shows of X Factor start up again so he'll have to go back to work soon after," revealed the source.
