Dionne Warwick has said that her cousin Whitney Houston died because "her heart just gave out."
For the first time since Houston's tragic death on February 11, the legendary singer has discussed what she believes happened on that fateful afternoon at the Beverly Hilton.
"You know, in all honesty, I think she had a heart attack, that's what I think happened to her," the Daily Mail quoted her as telling Entertainment Tonight.
The 71-year-old was asked if possible drug use could have played a role.
"I don't know if it's that or not. I think her heart just gave out," she said.
Warwick talked to ET during a break from her still untitled 50th anniversary celebration album, which will contain new original songs written for her by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
She also spoke about the feelings she had while accompanying Houston's body aboard the plane that transported the Grammy winner back to her native New Jersey.
"It was a combination of things, stories, laughter, tears. All the emotions that you feel when somebody very near to you passes," she said.
