Director accuses Sanjay Dutt of harassment

entertainment Updated: Jan 22, 2011 19:46 IST

Shakeel Noorani has alleged that actor Sanjay Dutt is harassing him by framing him in an extortion case. Noorani is fighting a financial dispute against Dutt, reported Mid-Day.

Noorani had allegedly paid Dutt 50 lakhs for a film but the actor never showed up for the shooting. Meanwhile, Dutt received some extortion calls from the underworld which, he alleged, were planted by the director.

Noorani was, later, summoned by the crime branch between 3 and 5 pm for questioning in the 2005 extortion case. But according to the director, he found no one there so he came back.

SanjayThe director told the tabloid, "I don't even know about the case. Sanjay has been harassing me by filing fake cases since I filed a case against him, demanding compensation for the Rs 2-crore loss that I had to suffer when the actor unceremoniously moved out of my film Jaan Ki Baazi (the film was later shelved)."

The director also claims that because Dutt took the money and did not give him any dates, the film had to be shelved and Noorani incurred hefty losses.

After losing crores of money, Noorani filed a complaint against the actor at Indian Motion Pictures Producer's Association (IMPPA).
