Imagine getting to spend time with Farhan Akhtar, chatting over beer and hors d’oeuvres.
If you love watching movies, then Indu Mirani and Namrata Bhawnani’s new initiative, The Boss Dialogues (TBD), is the place to be this weekend. Slated to be an intimate occasion to interact with A-list filmmakers, the event’s first session will be with Farhan. “Indu knows many people from the film industry and has hung out on sets a lot. We thought this was a great way to use those relations and give people a platform to meet directors,” says Bhawnani.
The event will take place at culture hub Last Ship, Bandra, on April 20. After a brief introduction, the floor will be open to the audience to pick Farhan’s brains on all things cinema. Attendance at the event is free, but registration is mandatory.
“Luckily, our partnerships fell in place. So we could host the pilot session for free,” says Bhawnani, with a laugh.
The session is aimed at serious cinema buffs and those interested in a career in films. So if you were looking to find out who Farhan’s first crush was, you’ll be disappointed. “As long as the questions are non-gossip, you’re free to ask what you want. From the responses we’ve got on our registration forms so far, the audience seems like a bunch of people interested in films,” says Bhawnani.
Currently, the team has six directors in the series of meet-ups and plan on adding others soon. “Hopefully we’ll get international directors on board,” she says. For now, cinema buffs can look forward to the next session that features Farah Khan in May.
