Ashmit Patel may not have much to his credit apart from a couple of dud movies and a colourful reality TV stint with Veena Malik, but still likes to throw his weight around. Recently, Ashmit gruesomely beat up an unsuspecting man at a party in Mumbai.

Vicky, who is a close friend of Imran Khan and is currently assisting Kabir Khan in YRF's forthcoming Ek Tha Tiger, was partying at the same night spot as Ashmit. He was there with his girlfriend Pooja.

The fight began when Vicky went to the bar to get a drink and Ashmit tried to insinuate a fight. When he didn't respond to Ashmit's threats, Patel pushed Vicky. When Vicky protested, Patel along with 12-15 friends started bashing him up.

"Ashmit was in a very aggressive mood. He was trying to bully people in the nightclub. He just wanted violence," an eyewitness told Mumbai Mirror.

On seeing her boyfriend being mercilessly beaten up, Pooja raised an alarm. By the time the bouncers came, it was too late. "It was too late. Pooja was horrified seeing Vicky bleeding the way he was," the eye eyewitness added.

Vicky suffered fractured nose, apart from other superficial cuts and bruises. He had to be rushed to a hospital. A source close to Vicky told the tabloid, "Vicky lost at least three-four litre of blood. His journey from Parel to Borivali made him extremely groggy. Pooja stayed with Vicky, until he was finally operated in a hospital in Borivali."

Vicky and Pooja have confirmed the story. Even Kabir Khan, who Vicky is currently working for, said, "I saw Pooja traumatised on Saturday. She told me about her boyfriend being beaten up. Such acts of violence are unpardonable and should be condemned in any civilized society."

Imran Khan's official spokesperson told Mumbai Mirror, "What happened is extremely unfortunate. Imran is not in town. And he doesn't know about this. But if he were here, he would have been very upset. Vicky is very close to him. Imran and Vicky have been working together since Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. They are also extremely close friends."
