Delhi University is all set to get its very own TV channel. Called the Delhi University Television Network (DUTN), the channel will start as an Internet based TV network and be made available to 10 colleges in North Campus, reveals Professor AK Bakhshi, Director, Institute of Lifelong Learning. He says they plan to expand it to more colleges and eventually bring it to TV.
The channel will air live college events in colleges such as sports matches, and even freshers parties, apart from regular news and other shows.
“There’s a need for free flow of information in the University. With so many colleges and departments in DU, it is impossible for students to know everything that’s going on at each place.
This will help us overcome this problem,” says Bakhshi. “It’ll be like what you see in US universities, which is known as Students Television Network, where all universities are connected. We plan to take students of different colleges to be a part of the team running the channel.”
