The Duchess of Cambridge had to undergo a criminal records check before she could volunteer with the Scouts Association as an occasional helper.
She wants to volunteer at a group near her husband Prince William’s airbase in Wales, but first, a once-over from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) was required.
Civil liberties groups have criticised the move as over-zealous but royal staff say she was happy to comply.
“The Duchess submitted her forms and is very much looking forward to starting as soon as possible,” the Daily Star quoted St James’s Palace as saying.
She will also be the Royal Patron of the National Portrait Gallery, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice, Action on Addiction and kids’ group The Art Room.
