Prince Andrew, The Duke of York was in Delhi on Monday to represent the Queen in the year of Diamond Jubilee on a week-long tour of the country. Even as formal invitations were sent out to the press to attend the celebrity-studded reception at the residence of the British High Commissioner, it seemed like the Prince could not handle the Indian media’s spotlight. After appearing late at the event, The Duke briefed the gathering for a few minutes, which was followed by National Anthems of both Britain and India.

As soon he stepped down to greet the guests personally and the flashlights came on, photographers and mediapersons were asked by his security to leave the venue. “The Prince is not comfortable,” said one among the security personnel. And that wasn’t all ... journalists were even escorted out till the gate!

When we asked for a brief interaction with him, the spokesperson said, “The Royalty doesn’t talk to the press.”
