After what was witnessed at the Indian Grand Prix one would wonder if anything so glamorous would be seen again in the city. From Formula One drivers to the international pop diva Lady Gaga, Bollywood glitterati to corporate bigwigs, Indian sports stars to funny man Mr Bean aka British actor Rowan Atkinson, the first Indian GP saw everyone make a beeline to the Buddh International Circuit at Greater Noida.
Worldwide, F1 races are associated with glamour. Besides the F1 eye candies — the pit babes or grid girls — it is the celebrities and star WAGs who attract eye balls to the event.
But, it is the adrenaline rush of the motorsport or the glamour that makes F1 a shimmering three-day party? The city’s well-known say that it’s the speed and the adrenaline rush that ups the glamour quotient. Designer, Anupama Dayal, who attended the race on Sunday, says, “More than the celebs, it’s the adrenaline rush, speed, the risk factor and big money involved that makes it glamorous.”
Designer Rina Dhaka says, “It’s the men in the cars and live daredevilry stunts of the cars that makes F1 a glamorous affair.” Restaurateur Shiv Karan Singh, who had been to the Singapore F1 Grand Prix, says, “F1 is bigger than any star or hot babes. It’s all about cars, speed and the head rush.”
