Film maker Shomu Mukherji, father of actor Kajol passed away in Mumbai on Thursday following a massive cardiac arrest, family sources said.

He was 65.

Mukherji's passing away on the eve of the release of U Me aur Hum, the directorial debut of his son-in-law Ajay Devgan, casted a pall of gloom in the family.

Family sources said the film will be released as per the schedule. Devgan had not organised a premiere for the film today.
