She looks every bit the beauty queen and former Miss Mexico Elisa Najera’s secret to looking beautiful and healthy is simple — lots of sleep. “It’s essential to get adequate sleep and follow a daily exercise regimen. Though I am lucky to be genetically blessed, maintaining a fit body does not come easy. I follow different routines like running, cycling, swimming and dancing to avoid monotony and it also adds an element of fun. The Miss Universe training also taught me a lot in terms of being disciplined and focused.”



Najera, who was in the Capital recently as the brand ambassador for Corralejo tequila, was crowned Miss Mexico in 2007 and represented her country at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant.



This is Najera’s maiden India visit and she is very excited: “I have heard so much about India, it was on my list of places to visit. I’m really excited to be here and find it so different from what one hears,” said the 25-year-old, who bought a Kanjeevaram silk sari from Chennai recently. When asked if it's true that models starve themselves to stay thin, Najera said, “If we start starving ourselves then we’ll end up losing our curves. But I do follow a very strict diet and avoid junk and fried food. But the key to a healthy body is eating a balanced diet,” adding, “Drink a lot of water as it’s important to be hydrated all the time for the skin to glow.”
