Delhiites love their flora. And that’s what explains the rise in popularity of of the annual flower shows that have hit the Capital in the last few months.
With the winters coming in late, flowers weren’t experiencing a full bloom. But were are still many who pulled off a show.
“Despite bad weather conditions, the footfall was high this season. The stalls stocking garden accessories, containers and other gardening and flower decoration accompaniment, also reported a considerable rise in the sales,” says Bella Gupta, secretary, All India Kitchen Garden Association show.
The Chrysanthemum Flower Show and Greater Noida Flower Show proved to be crowd pullers. Many also loved the variety of flowers on display at the Gurgaon Flower show (organised by HUDA) and the Annual Flower Show organised by the Delhi Tourism at the Garden Of Five Senses. These shows award the best in categories such as Best Flower Arrangement, Best Pot Plants, Best Cut Flowers, and Best Flowers.
Ashok Kumar Munjal, managing director of Sunbeam Auto Limited and a passionate gardener, who participates in seven to eight shows every season, says his passion stems from a sense of gratitude he feels towards the nature. “It also has a spiritual connect somewhere,” he feels.
