This summer while you’re on vacation, you can ensure that your plants will be well taken care of. Go Green, a multi-faceted gardening initiative started by media professional Bharat Soni provides a host of services, from ‘dial-a-mali’ to ‘plants-on hire’ and even baby-sitting your plants while you’re away.

Plants on hire
Besides boasting of a ‘garden mall’ or a full-fledged botanical garden-cum-nursery in Panvel, Go Green has put up many outlets in city malls where people can buy or hire plants and avail of their services.

“Gardening has always been my passion and now it is also turning out to be a successful business. We started out with a small nursery about 10 years ago but have expanded our services to suit our urban clientele,” says Soni, adding, “I realised that a lot of people have trouble finding a good gardener. People can also drop their plants at our gardening mall when they go away on holidays. Depending on the kind of plant, we charge anything from Rs 15 to Rs 50 per plant for looking after them,” says Soni. For corporates, the initiative also lends and maintains indoor and outdoor plants in the air-conditioned office environment.

Extended services
Go Green also provides a one-stop solution for landscaping, farm management, garden consultancy, tree transplantation and micro-irrigation “People are investing in plots in the outskirts of the city, but don’t really know how to maintain them. We convert these barren lands into green patches with garden solutions so that people don’t have to contact the landscaper, contractor or a nursery separately,” says Soni.
