Most of us have experienced a hangover —thumping headache, dry mouth and queasy stomach — the morning after a bout of heavy drinking. Unfortunately, there isn’t one cure-all for a hangover, as the symptoms can range from dehydration and a pounding headache to flu-like symptoms, even seizures.
According to various blogs and sites, including RUpissed? and HubPages, any of the following will help quell nausea, headaches, cleanse toxins, and get the good stuff back in you:
Nausea relief: To get over the feeling of nausea, have cola, coffee, ginseng, cold pizza, bananas, peanut butter, honey and banana sandwich, and chocolate milk.
Sweat it out: A hot bath reportedly helps, too.
Rehydration and balancing sugar and minerals levels: Ginseng, orange juice, tomato, a 600mg vitamin C tablet, chocolate milk, pickle juice, eggs (raw is best) and passion fruit juice help restore the body’s sugar and mineral balance.
Headache relief: To fight headache, take an aspirin or the like, and eat at least two to three bananas.
Prevention, of course, is always better than a cure. So, here are some tips other than the obvious to prevent a hangover —
1. Drink no more than one alcoholic beverage per hour and remember to keep yourself hydrated.
2. If you’re feeling drunk, lay off the cocktails and load up on water.
3. Avoid bubbly and super sweet drinks.
4. Before going to bed after having drinks, eat cheesy carbohydrates (pizza, macaroni and cheese), etc.
