It’s a “dream come true” for actor Riya Vij, who made her debut in Bollywood with filmmaker Karan Johar’s latest release, Gippi. “I never thought of becoming an actor or getting into Bollywood. I feel truly blessed,” she says.
Interestingly, not many know that Riya had just tagged along with a friend for the film’s audition and even though her friend really wanted the role, Riya bagged it.
Talking about the changes in her life after her first film, the 14-year old Delhiite, who is a class 9th student of Delhi’s Sanskriti School, says, “Undoubtedly, I have started getting a lot of attention than I used to. I have strangers coming up to me and friends who I had lost touch with getting in touch again. But thank God that my close friends have always been there for me and their attitude with me hasn’t changed much.”
A self-confessed fan of actor Ranbir Kapoor, Riya says that she would love to work with him. “I really like him and have the biggest crush on him. I’m a very big fan of Ranbir. It would be great if I get work with him some day,” she says.
Her first film may have won her a lot of praise, but Riya — who wants to become a dentist — says she will take time to decide her next project, and won’t compromise on studies. “I don’t mind taking up more films. If I get a great opportunity, then why not? But that will happen as long as it doesn’t interfere with my studies, that’s my priority. I really don’t know if I want to continue in the film industry,” she says.
