Ajmal Amir Kasab, 26/11 Mumbai terror attack convict was declared guilty by the Special Court in Mumbai on Monday. As the lone surviving terrorist — charged with the deaths of 166 Indians and foreigners — awaits sentencing, HT City asked Bollywood celebrities what they think should be his punishment. Most felt no mercy should be shown to Kasab.

“Kasab should be hung as he deserves nothing less than that for all he had done during the 26/11 terror attacks,” said actor Eesha Koppikhar.

“It has to be a capital punishment. This step should have been taken long back,” said actor Neetu Chandra. Actor Koena Mitra said, “Kasab should be sentenced to capital punishment. I hope that justice will prevail.”

TV anchor Pooja Bedi said the government need to send across a strong message: “He can’t get away from the heinous act he has been a part of.” Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar agreed, “The decision should set an example for everyone else. It should act as a fear factor for those who try to disintegrate our country.”

“Only a death sentence will serve Kasab right. I don’t know what’s been stopping us from doing that for so long?” said actress Raima Sen.

Even Twitter was abuzz with reactions on Kasab’s verdict. Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur tweeted, “Being brainwashed cannot be an excuse for terrorism.” Filmmaker Kunal Kohli posted, “Kasab will get a sentence, but he’s just a pawn. When will the handlers, planners and the state sponsored terrorism end?” “All of India wants to see Kasab hanged. So do I,” tweeted filmmaker Goldie Behl.
