24-year-old Chace Crawford, who shot to fame with his role of a Manhattan rich kid Nate Archibald in the hit show, Gossip Girl was booked for possessing less than two ounces of marijuana.
He was busted in the parking lot of Ringo's Pub where he was allegedly sitting in car with a friend by the cops who found an unlit joint.
The actor was arrested just after midnight for misdemeanour, which carries a 6-month maximum sentence and a fine up to $2000, reported CNN. However, a first offender can expect a year or less probation, as told by George Reul, the criminal lawyer in Texas. He said that jail time would be rare in such cases.
As told by George Reul, many defendants are given "deferred adjudication", which says that they are not technically convicted and the charges are withdrawn once they complete the probationary period successfully. Their names are also removed from the criminal records after the probation, reported newspostonline.com.
