Academy award winner Robert De Niro may be one of the greatest actors of all time, but the legend, who is on his maiden India visit, feels he has been replaced by younger star Leonardo Di Caprio. Especially when it comes to Martin Scorsese films.

The 70-year-old, who was spotted at different places in the Capital last week alongside top Indian dignitaries, will soon be seen in the upcoming comedy, Last Vegas, co-starring Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline.
Talking about the Titanic star, the icon says, “Leonardo DiCaprio is a very serious young actor, he takes it quite seriously. I knew he had something when I saw him read a part. So although (Leonardo) DiCaprio has taken my place in Marty’s (Martin Scorsese) movies, I’m apparently the go-to-guy in handing out the hardware.”
As for the changes in Hollywood over the decades, The Godfather star jokes, “I’ve gotten pretty good at giving out awards but frankly I’ve gotten out of practice of accepting an award myself.”
‘He is one of the most humble legends’
Those who met Robert De Niro while he was in town say that despite his enormous success, the actor is extremely humble. “He is forthcoming and loves to talk. We compared the number of Bollywood and Hollywood movies that release in a year. I asked him which one of his own movies he likes, and he said he loves almost all of them, because every character he has played has a different perspective,” says designer Suneet Varma, who met him at a party.
