It is one of the most keenly awaited films this year, and if the trailer (which has been leaked online and is easily available on Youtube) of Ridley Scott's latest directorial venture Exodus: Gods and Kings is any indication, this one sure promises to be the most talked about films from Hollywood for a long time. The movie stars The Dark Knight star Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II.

Scott seems to be playing more on human emotions, those between Moses and the Pharaoh, in this adaptation of Bible's Book of Exodus, rather than relying on grandiose or the scale of the event. However, he has not ignored them completely: the special effects (of the rising sea with a horse turning around to run away from it) is absolutely stunning and awesome.

Both the lead actors look their respective parts: Bale with his armour and thick beard (though we expected free-flowing white robes and whiter beard), and Joel with his bald head and golden clothes (remember Xerxes from 300?).

We have one confusion though. In the Book of Exodus, we read that baby Moses was kept hidden from the evil Pharaoh, and the king went on a killing spree for the Hebrew firstborns. He returns to Egypt as a messenger of God to warn the king of the ten deadly plagues: bloody river, dying fish, locusts, frogs, storms of fire, death of first borns and other curses if he didn't release the Israelites.

In the movie, however, the two (Moses and the Pharaoh) are shown as long-lost friends ("when I look at you, I still see the two boys who grew up together"). The mystery is deep. Guess we will have to wait till the movie releases in December to figure out the answer.
