Honey, it’s about money
Limos, choppers, club terraces all to yourself — that’s love!entertainment Updated: Feb 10, 2011 01:15 IST
The moolah has overtaken mush. This Valentine’s Day, Delhi’s uber cool restaurants and luxury services are doling out dangerously expensive stuff to help lovers impress their partners — a date-on-the-move in a plush Limo, a whole terrace to yourself against the moonlit Qutab Minar, and chopper rides complete with petal showers and champagne.
“I am so happy Delhi is finally doing what the best cities in the world are ... chocolates and bunnies were just not happening,” says Sheena Oberoi, 23, who hopes to be pampered this V-day.
“Finally, Valentine’s will be fun, even if it’ll cost me a bomb,” says Nitin Dey, who is all set for a chopper ride with his girl. Not everyone agrees. “Delhi-ites are such show offs. It’s only marketing hype,” says Ria Dua, 19.
Date in a limo
Here’s a Limo ride with LED lights, a minibar, LCD screens that play your favourite movie or a slideshow of your photos, and a privacy partition between you and the driver. 24-year-old Sahdev Goil’s Limousine Wagon renting service has introduced luxurious ‘Presidential Wheels’, which “took seven months to put in place,” he says.
The price tag: Rs 15,000.
“My girl is flying from England and this is the perfect way to pop the question,” says a 23-year-old wishing not to be named as that might spoil the surprise. But, not everyone’s buying it. “My Maruti’s better — it’s even got memories attached. Love isn’t about show-off,” says Nishita Baderia, 24.
