Ekta Kapoor says she is shocked yet overwhelmed at being named as the youngest most powerful woman by Forbes magazine’s inaugural Asia Power Business-women list. “I didn’t expect it and even asked why I was conferred the honour. But, then I was told it was given because of the impact my shows and movies have had on the society,” says the 35-year-old filmmaker, who started her career in 1995 by producing TV shows.

In 2001, Kapoor ventured into big screen but tasted success only in 2010 and since then, there has been no looking back for her. When asked to rate herself as a businesswoman, Ekta said, “I give myself 5/10 as there is a lot for me to do. Two years ago, I was zero and now I have reached five. I am not being critical, nor modest, just honest.”

Kapoor, however, is in no mood to celebrate the feat as she is trying to deal with the FIR that has been filed against her production house and director Sanjay Gupta for sending press invites of their film, Shootout At Wadala, on a letterhead resembling that of the Mumbai Police commissioner. A case of forgery and cheating has been filed against them. “Oh my God, don’t even ask me about it. I have been told not to respond on any query related to this as the matter is sub judice,” she said.

Talking about her other joint production with good friend and filmmaker Karan Johar, Kapoor said, “Karan and I have been friends for long. We hope that work never affects our friendship as no project is worth that.” Clarifying rumours that Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor are part of the film, she said, “I would have jumped if that was the cast. We don’t know the cast yet.”

Reacting to her father, actor Jeetendra’s recent statement that she should get married now, Kapoor said, “I don’t know when is the right time... I go with the flow. I don’t think I’ll survive in an arranged marriage.”
