Try as she might, Koena Mitra hasn’t managed to pull off a big Bollywood blockbuster as yet. But the girl who began her big screen career as an item girl with the raunchy Khullam khulla in the film Road refuses to give up. The
psychology major from Kolkata won the Gladrags Supermodel Contest in 2002, and in between her film assignments, still continues to model.
Would you like to be 16 again?
Why not? I’d get the chance to live a few years again, and could go back to school. It would be great fun.
What car do you drive and what would you like to drive?
I drive an SUV – a Lexus. I’d love to own a Ferrari.
Your most recent purchase? Where did you buy it?
New games for my PS3 from Dubai.
The one film you can see again and again?
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. I can watch it many times. It’s one of my favourite films.
You get put off by people when they…
Are loud. When they use abusive language. And when they lie.
A childhood memory special to you?
The first time I saw my little sister. She was just 15 minutes old.
What attracts you in a man?
Honesty, sensitivity, loyalty, a sense of humour and dignity. And he must be someone who knows how to live life in style.
When you get angry, you…
I go silent. Silence is the most powerful scream.
If you woke up and found you’d turned into a man, you would…
Go back to sleep.
If your partner cheated on you, you’d…
I would ask the chick to keep him. That would be good punishment for her. And of course I would dump him.
Your favourite outfit?
Jeans and a white shirt. Looks very sexy on a man and a woman.
If you could change one thing about yourself it would be?
I’m guarded most of the time and a bit of an introvert. So I would like to be a little more flexible as I’ve realised that people misunderstand that as ignorance or snobbishness.
Who or what sets your pulses racing?
The last holiday you went on?
To Spain. And then to Ibiza from there.
The outdoor activity you love?
Swimming. And shopping. Anytime, anywhere.
Two ways in which you have changed in the last ten years?
I have become single-minded and more mature and responsible because of staying alone in Mumbai. And being independent gives me great satisfaction. I can’t think of being idle and sitting at home.
The restaurant you love going to?
Spices at the Marriott.
You are the fashion police for the day. What would you ban?
It’s a long list. Not products, but people.
If you could remove one person from this earth, it would be?
Oooh, it’s a long list. Never mind.
