Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who will soon start filming Ayan Mukherji’s next, reunites with former lover Deepika Padukone. In a tête-à-tête, the actor says he's still friends with her and also clears the air about his rumoured affairs.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who will soon start filming buddy Ayan Mukherji’s next, Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani, reunites with his former lover, actor Deepika Padukone, on screen. However, he admits that he didn’t make any recommendations for the leading lady’s role.

“Ayan’s film is a coming-of-age romance; the kind that’s prevalent in the lives of urban youngsters and the mad things they do. I accepted the film purely because I liked my character. It didn’t make a difference to me who Ayan chose to cast opposite me,” says the actor, who is currently promoting his November release, Rockstar, adding, “He chose Deepika, and I’m cool with that. I’m not jittery about working with her again.”

Clearly, the ex-couple has moved on from their high-profile relationship. So when asked what it took the Kapoor scion to move on and gear up to face the camera with his former lover again, he points out that essentially, one mustn’t lose communication with the partner. "If there’s anything you have in your heart, speak to the person. It’s simple. Complications begin when this doesn’t happen. Chinese whispers, imaginations and misinterpretations become common," he explains.

"Never harbour negativity. Two people make a relationship, and they’re equally responsible if it doesn’t work out. It shows that we could have made a disastrous life together. And most importantly, don’t deny yourself the feeling of heartbreak. It makes it easier to move on, without baggage."

Ranbir and Deepika met on the sets of Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008 and their romance soon became the talk of the town. Their break-up grabbed bigger headlines a year later, given the latter had several public outbursts against the former. Recently though, the two were spotted watching a movie together at a suburban cinema. It’s also said that Deepika had invited Ranbir for her housewarming party that happened earlier this month.

"We care for each other. We’re friends. I’ve grown up as a person with her, which is why I never share intimate details of our relationship with anyone. I have to ensure her future doesn’t get into trouble because of our past. I’d be really happy to see her settled some day," says Ranbir, adding, "I’m looking forward to working with Deepika again. We just worked on a quarter of a movie together. This time, it’s a full project, I’m sure our chemistry will work."

‘50 per cent of rumoured affairs are true’
In the last two years, Ranbir has been linked with several young women including Katrina Kaif, model Angela Jonsson and Rockstar co-actor Nargis Fakhri. Bring it up, and he admits 50 per cent of the rumours are true.

“But they’re exaggerated because we’re in the glamour industry. Just because I’m single and I dine out with a co-actor doesn’t mean anything. It could just be something very casual. Honestly, I’m not interested in a relationship right now because I haven’t come across someone who can sweep me off my feet,” he says. But aren’t the women he’s He alsoworking with attracted to him? “What’s wrong with that? It happens in every work environment. Attraction doesn’t have to be physical or emotional alone. If you feel attracted to someone, there’s no harm in pursuing it. But if you are in a committed relationship, then it’s not fair because someone else’s feelings are at stake.”
