I expressed my desire to meet the US President a little late in the day,” says actor Neha Dhupia. “I wanted to meet him for sure. But then, he had a very tight schedule and there was no space for chance meetings and squeezed-in interactions.”

But the actor says that she has a desire relating to Barack Obama, which she wishes to fulfill before she dies.

When asked what that was, she says, “I want a two-way ride in US Air Force One. I’ve heard and read about it in so many places. I’m fascinated with the kind of aircraft it is. So, whether I ever meet the President or not, I want to travel to America and back in that plane.”

Neha DhupiaDhupia’s much-acclaimed film, Phas Gaye Re Obama that has already won critics over at the various film festivals, releases today.

However, her last film, Action Replayy, one of the biggest big-ticket movies for the festive season, didn’t set the cash registers ringing. Neither has Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, another film toplining her, found any takers so far.

Ten years into the industry, do Fridays bother her? “No way,” Dhupia beams. “If my film succeeds, the question in my mind is ‘what’s next?’. And if it doesn’t succeed, the question still is ‘what’s next?’. I’ve stopped getting bothered by box office collections of films. I’m more interested in the satisfaction I get out of working on a project.”

As for Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, the former Miss India says that she’s hopeful that the film will release very soon. “It has been stuck for various reasons, but I’m sure the producers are making every effort to get it to release as soon as they can.”

It was rumoured that Dhupia’s character in her Friday release was inspired by Gabbar Singh and UP politico Mayawati. “Lady Gabbar for sure,” she laughs. “The way I was inviting my friends for the premiere of the film, I’m sure even they are convinced that I am the lady Gabbar in their lives. They say I still haven’t shaken out of Munni Madam.”

Dhupia, who’s currently working on a biopic of Mussolini Hitler, it’s learnt, was also approached to participate on the Sony Entertainment dance reality show, Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa 4.

She confirms and says, “They required certain dates which I couldn’t allot to them. So, the deal didn’t work out. Nevertheless, TV is something I’ve enjoyed. I will associate myself with it when something catches my fancy.
